This training will provide Yoga teachers with the basic principles and practice of Pranayama. This course is good for someone who wants to incorporate Pranayama teaching into their Yoga classes in addition to their other Yoga (Asana, Dhyana etc) styles. This workshop will cover the basic theories, techniques, mechanisms, modern research, and applications of Pranayama. The students will receive a handout of key points, a copy of PranaScience: Decoding Yoga Breathing book authored by the instructor, and a certificate of completion.
About Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian
Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian is a Cell Biology researcher and founder of PranaScience Institute. He is currently studying mechanisms involved in resistance to cancer therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He is also a Yoga Biology researcher. A pioneer in the area of research combining Pranayama and salivary stimulation, he discovered Yogic breathing promotes salivary secretion, and it contains factors that are important for our healthy living. Recently, his research work on breathing received a mention in the New York Times.
