Rebecca Toms

I became a Pilates instructor after two events collided: the physical wear and tear of being a hairdresser for 20 years and a torn ACL/knee surgery from a skiing accident. I loved the safe, gentle approach to physical fitness that Pilates allowed, while also having the ability to kick my butt in a serious workout! I love to work with clients who are a bit apprehensive because of their own physical issues or because of previous fitness regimens that weren't a good fit for them. So often these are the clients who come to love Pilates and see a real difference in how they feel every day.

I've been at Evolve since:

When I'm not teaching at Evolve, you can find me:

With my kids-Early 2.5 and Cosmo 6 mo. Also, sleeping (if I'm lucky).

My favorite thing about teaching at Evolve is:

There isn't just one-there are so many. Working with people who have turned into amazing friends. Having a job that I love and feel passionate about. Working for a company that is so well run. Getting to see clients' progress.

My morning routine is:

Coffee. I hope one day it will include Pilates again, but getting 2 small boys out the door doesn't leave time for anything. Except coffee.

I'm inspired by:

The list is too long! But here are a few: my co-workers-they inspire me to be a better teacher than the one I am today. Our clients-overcoming some significant physical challenges to keep moving forward.

Best advice I've received:

"Assume that you don't know the outcome". My uncle told me this when I was 18 and knew everything. It turns out that I didn't know everything and that life does not always go the way you think it will. Also, being a perfectionist is not time well spent.

My favorite quote:

I wish I had one.
