Shannon Reeder

I completed my 200 hour teacher training with Carson Efird at Evolve in 2013.  After teaching two years, I enrolled in and am currently pursuing my 500 hour certification with Shiva Rea, global yoga teacher and creator of Prana Vinyasa.  My classes offer a welcoming environment, with time allowed for introspection and kramas (or stages) of asanas offered throughout, making them accessible to all levels.  I am also experienced in Supported Yoga and Kids Yoga and enjoy offering this beautiful practice to a variety of populations.

Techniques I teach/provide:

Yoga.

I've been at Evolve since:

2013.

When I'm not teaching at Evolve, you can find me:

Living part of the year on the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize!

My favorite thing about teaching at Evolve is:

I love sharing a practice I feel so deeply connected to and offering peaceful space in a busy, hectic world.  I also love the community and warmth Evolve offers.  It's a special place where anyone can go and feel welcomed, supported and valued.

My morning routine is:

Waking up, offering gratitude, drinking one cup of black coffee and eating breakfast and on a good day, squeezing in time to either meditate or practice, and on an awesome day, doing both!

I'm inspired by:

My teachers, Carson Efird and Shiva Rea, peaceful warriors like Gandhi and Martin Luther King, soul inspiring thinkers like Dr. Dawna Markova, those who go against the grain in life.

Best advice I've received:

When taking on new challenges, you only experience the first time once.  After that, there's comfort and familiarity, and no reason to be afraid of the unknown- advice from my Dad.

My favorite quote:

"When I die, I want my heart and soul fully seeded with rich stories and experiences.  I want to be moving forward, falling upward, leaving my body well worn.  I want to know presence, staying with what is hard until it softens, staying with what is narrow until it expands.  I want to know how to float in the silences between breaths and thoughts.  I want to know how to lift above and sink below the flow of life, to drift and dream in the currents of what cannot be known.  It's not so much about being prepared for death as it is being full of life."  Dr. Dawna Markova from her book I Will Not Die an Unlived Life.
